Another week gone by and time for Friday Favorites. I didn't take any favorites photos this week because it was a crazy week! We were gone all day Monday, visiting my mother in law and then hubby's birthday dinner at our son's house. Tuesday is rained like crazy and the soccer game we were planning to attend was cancelled but the cross country meet wasn't. Since we don't do sporting events in the rain we hung out (hanged out???) with the younger brother of the runner. Wednesday and Thursday we had out of town guests and somewhere in there hubby caught a nasty head cold, which made today a "lay low" day. But I do have some favorite things to share, just no photos to go with them...
#1-my cousin, Linda, who I've mentioned here before, welcomed her first grandchild into the world yesterday. To say that she is thrilled, excited, happy, blessed and a little bit giddy, is a gross understatement! We are so happy for her. Congratulations to her daughter, Laura and her husband, Andy as they begin their journey of parenthood with Olivia Mae.
#2-pumpkins. I haven't gotten any for us here yet as I usually wait until the first of October, but they are showing up all over the place. I wait until October to get our pumpkins so that the pumpkins will last until Thanksgiving. We don't carve pumpkins anymore, but this year I think I am going to try roasting some. I mean, they are a squash, right?
#3-speaking of squash... I made a Butternut Squash soup with one of the squash from our "compost garden". It was really good. I found the recipe on Facebook. If you want to try it, here is the recipe link. http://tiphero.com/roasted-butternut-squash-soup/
#4-Sam's Club roasted chickens. I cannot go anywhere near the meat department there without buying one. So moist, so well seasoned, so delicious. And we get three meals out of them... dinner, sandwiches and soup... can't ask for more than that.
#5- Kings Corners card game. I learned how to play when I visited Florida last year. It's one of those games that is easy to learn, doesn't require a lot of thinking and is just plain fun. Here is a link to the rules if you'd like to learn to play https://considerable.com/kings-in-the-corner/ Hubby and I play several times a week and yesterday I played with my cousin, Becky.
I hope you all were able to find some favorite things in your week... enjoy your weekend!
Thanks for dropping by...
