So many artists going mental over this already!
A girl in Harvard, don't ask me her name because I have forgotten it already, has invented a printer that can print 3D make-up.
No seriously.
Apparently you can lift any color and transfer this onto creams, powders and liquids. Oh but it will cost you,$300 to be exact. Now I have a few issues with this. As an artist, I know that not every girl wears the right shade of eyeshadow, foundation or lipstick. This is where an artist can majorly help you. Not to mention health and safety amongst other things.
I don't see this replacing the help or time that you get with an artist or sales person. Then again, I prefer the personal touch when it comes to make-up or sales in general as I am a person who likes to speak to a person. I literally only shop in Amazon because my books for college are so rare.
"Big makeup companies take the pigment and the substrates and mix them together and then jack the price. We do the same thing and let you get the makeup right in your own house.
“The inkjet handles the pigment, and the same raw material substrates can create any type of makeup, from powders to cream to lipstick. Implementing this ability on the Mink is not hard to do, it’s actually more of a business decision.”
She claims to be aiming this invention at the tech savvy 13-35 year old make-up geeks who are sick of paying a fortune for brand name cosmetics. We shall see how this one works out.....
I doubt this will make too much of a shake up in the industry, but then again, didn't people say that about social media VS print????
